Chief Financial Officer

This is a regular full-time exempt position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the Chief Executive and will be a critical member of the executive team.

The CFO is responsible for the overall strategic and tactical financial operations of the Company.  This includes responsibility for establishing and maintaining a system of adequate internal resources, timely and accurate financial and business reporting, financial strategy and funding for the corporation, SEC reporting financial planning and analysis and investor relations.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about the opportunity to play a significant role in formulating strategy and ensuring the company's operations are equipped to capitalize on all commercial opportunities.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight on all strategic financial activities including allocating the Company's capital and other financial resources and the development of long range financial models and tools to measure progress against goals
  • Oversee all financial planning and reporting activities including SEC reporting
  • Provide business with financial reports and statements that accurately measure company performance, and that allow for accurate budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, process improvement, and cash flow management
  • Develop annual budget, milestones, expense and revenue goals
  • Provide leadership in cost management and gaining leverage on cost structures
  • Partner with business leaders to provide reports and tools they can use for informed decision-making focused on maximizing return on investment
  • Provide leadership in developing managers financial acumen and skills to effectively direct and monitor business activities
  • Establish and maintain adequate systems of internal control including compliance with all tax requirements and SOX; provide oversight for corporate risk management
  • Manage corporate investments and investment options in 401K plan
  • Manage external financial relationships with auditors, banks, investment banks and other financial sponsors
  • Support M&A activities
  • Manage investor relations programs and activities
  • Assist in major contract activities and negotiations; implement processes for managing business profitability
  • Be responsible for all insurance programs
  • Attract, grow and motivate talented individuals to constitute an outstanding financial team

Requirements

  • An extensive background in financial management with particular strengths in the areas of financial statement preparation, budgeting/forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, process improvement, and cash management
  • A management style that is decisive and entrepreneurial; strong conceptual, creative, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience developing and implementing financial processes and procedures that are scalable as an organization grows
  • Experience bringing astrategic level of leadership to the finance function, serving as financial strategist
  • Superior business and financial analytical skills--success with timely monthly financial reporting, detailed financialanalysis, and the preparation of ad-hoc reports and analyses, cash flow planning, and management
  • Strong track record in finding, hiring and motivating financial staff
  • Excellent communications skills with demonstrated executive presence
  • A CPA or MBA required; international experience a plus

Additional Desired Skills

  • At least 5 years of CFO or similar experience with public company experience a plus
  • Software company experience highly desirable
  • Experience working with external parties, e.g. equity investors, bankers, consultants, and independent accountants; M&A experience would be valuable
  • Has the ability to work well with business leaders from other areas of the business to develop and accomplish shared goals
  • Comfortable working in a "high integrity" environment, including willingness to share credit and also to accept responsibility for performance
  • Approaches the job with a high energy and a sense of urgency, while setting high standards for themselves and their teams and colleagues.
